A dip into the consulting life and the start of it.
Hey world, it has been roughly 2.5 months since I started a new gig as a software consultant. I want to share, note and reflect how I feel about being a consultant and hopefully continue writing on a regular basis.
First thing first a bit of a background, this is my very first time working as a consultant. It is a brand new adventure for me. I thought I have settled in and have formed some preliminary views about it, that I can comfortably share.
Let’s rewind back to last November, I was ready for a change and this comes into place. I honestly didn’t quite know what to expect and pretty damn nervous about it. I wasn’t sure whether I would be able to do it or do I even have enough skills and etc (usual stuffs). At the same time I was super excited to start this new journey.
I remember my first day so vividly, straight to meeting with the client to discuss development, that was definitely nerve wrecking and I probably had a low-key meltdown (maybe?). There were definitely expectations from people around you and it wasn’t the easiest thing to digest.
I think nothing can quite prepare me for that first interaction ever and from then on it sort of like unraveling a puzzle, try it from a different angle, finding out the type of client that you are facing with and it is definitely all about that communication.
One thing for sure, I am really enjoying this new adventure and I’m looking forward to what’s in store for me!
I will stop here for now. Till next time!
